Are You Made To Have Soups On The Medifast Diet? Is It Required?

I sometimes hear from folks who are interested in the Medifast diet but who aren't big fans of soup. I've had people ask me if the soups are a requirement or if there is any way to avoid them. Many can't help but notice that the soups are often included with the variety packages. Nothing says that you are mandated to have the soups. It might help to know that within the soup category, there is also the option of chili, stew, and a sloppy joe. But if those do not appeal to you, you can just omit this category from what you order.
You have a few options if you're omitting the soup but still need to include a lunch meal into your day. You might chose to have your lean and green meal for lunch. Or, you might chose another of the prepackaged meals like one of the egg options, a bar, or one of the shakes. Many people aren't aware that you can customize your own package without needing to order one of the sample packages that include the soups.
Here is how you would do it. You would use the "design a menu" option. This is typically found on the left side of the company site. Once you get into this part of the site, it will ask you if you want a 2 or 4 week package. Click whatever is appropriate. After that, you will indicate whether you are a man or woman or if you have any health concerns (like diabetic, vegetarian, lactose free, gluten free, or kosher.) You're then asked if you only want to see only "on the go" meals which don't require any preparation. Once you make these selections, you'll be taken to a screen that shows all of the meal items. Basically, if you are ordering a month's worth of meals, you will be able to choose 20 boxes of food. (Most boxes hold 7 items each for a total of 140 meals.) When you make these choices, you'll want to choose something other than soup. As I said, you might opt for chili or more egg items or additional shakes or bars.
But know that you are never bound to have any foods that you don't want. If there are foods included in the variety packages that don't appeal to you, then you can always use the "design a menu" option to steer clear of what you don't want and order more of what you do.
